A downloadable game

The Explorer delves deeper into the strange new land, led on by The Guide. They know they must keep moving and exploring, being inventive but staying in tune with one another, as they try to lose The Hunters who are trying to track them through this unfamiliar landscape...

The Guide is a one-page RPG/communication game for three or more players.

In each round one player takes the role of The Explorer, one player is The Guide, the other players are The Hunters. The Guide's goal is to describe the environment of a strange new land in collaboration with The Explorer, while The Hunters listen in.

After The Guide and The Explorer have sufficiently discussed whatever fantastical (or mundane) world they have invented, the final test is whether The Guide can make The Explorer imagine a specific thing (building, place, animal, person, object) without having gone into explicit detail about it.

If The Hunters can correctly guess what the thing is, The Guide has been too obvious in their routes, The Hunters win that round.

If The Hunters fail to guess the thing, but The Explorer gets it right, The Guide and Explorer have worked well as a team to explore in a careful and cunning way, and have won that round.

If no one gets it, The Guide has been too obscure, taking too confusing a route; no one wins that round.

Mix up the roles and try again!

How sneakily can The Guide and The Explorer exchange information? How carefully are The Hunters listening? What incredible new environments will you explore?

Can't wait to play this on our next long car trip!

Aw cheers, hope it plays ok. Actually, a car trip adds a whole other dimension - Guide and Explorer making sly reference to things that are temporarily visible out the windows that the Hunters might not notice! Car trips may in fact be the ideal time for this game! :)
